It's a familiar and intriguing story: A strange craft appears in the sky, performs seemingly otherworldly aerobatics, baffles onlookers, and then is gone as quickly as it appeared, leaving us to question our eyesight and sanity.
But the reality is, many foreign things seen in the sky — also known as unidentified flying objects, or UFOs — are revealed to be anything but extra-terrestrial. Most of these sightings turn out to be experimental planes, atmospheric phenomena, or merely everyday objects that slip from our hands and head skyward.
Residents of Northern California and people as far away as Nevada and Oregon got an eyeful of what looked like a special effect from a sci-fi movie on Wednesday night. A strange, bright jagged light appeared in the skies above the San Francisco Bay Area.
The speculation came fast, with witnesses wondering if the light was caused by a rocket launch or a UFO. Twitter users rolled out the #UFO hashtag and some outright called it a UFO sighting.
Alien hunters are claiming that an image taken by Nasa's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter over a decade ago shows an artificial structure on the Red Planet. The three sided peak taken from above the surface appears to show what looks like a pyramid, similar to the ones found in Egypt. But despite the image being over 10 years old, conspiracy theorists are once again throwing claims around the internet. Alien theorist, Scott C Waring, told the Daily Express: "I found a giant three-sided pyramid on Mars in a Gigapan photo. The pyramid has one smooth side, which is probably the original outer coating that was made for it, but the other two sides have severely eroded".
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) - A Rio Rancho man has spent years building a massive collection, and wants to leave his legacy behind for future ufologist.
From pictures and magazines, to newspapers and audio recordings; David Marler, a UFO researcherwho lives in Rio Rancho, is fascinated with UFOs and has built up quite a collection.
"The unidentified object, which some sources thought might be a blimp, moved slowly down the Pacific Coast," announces an old radio broadcast in Marler's collection.
"Starting in 1990, I started amassing what was then a small library, and it has now grown to epic proportions," Marler said.
About 50 people gathered at the Mirabeau Park Hotel to share their experiences and what they’ve found in their individual searches for Bigfoot.
The two-day Sasquatch Roundup Event featured guest speakers, a VIP dinner and presentations where researchers and explorers could detail their latest research and Bigfoot sightings.
President Trump’s order to create a military Space Force gave conspiracy theorists another tantalizing piece of evidence — some say the best yet — that the government is hiding the truth about extraterrestrial visitors.
The idea is that launching the Space Force will be a big step toward the government’s acknowledgment of extraterrestrials and technology gleaned from crashed alien spacecraft — what the UFO community calls “full disclosure.”
Making it all the more real, the Space Force plan pits Mr. Trump against his natural enemy: the “deep state” within the federal government. The deep state is also the keeper of alien secrets, according to UFO researchers.
The group released a “follow-up report” this month that concludes the woman saw something that wasn’t human. Sandy Hook is about 100 miles east of Lexington, Kentucky.
“She described it as a walking tree,“ investigator Jack Smarr said after interviewing the woman.
Conspiracy theorists all around the world strongly believe that UFO sightings are the concrete evidence of alien existence.
Last year, Pentagon admitted that they conducted a secret UFO investigation program named AATIP (Advanced Arial Threat Identification Program) to unveil the mysteries surrounding unidentified flying object sightings. Even though the project was scrapped around six years ago, several conspiracy theorists argue that the project is still on, and the United States secret forces are still on the hunt to unravel the real truth behind these unknown flying objects.
In 2018 too, several UFO sightings were reported from various parts of the globe. Upon closer analysis, many UFO videos released by conspiracy theorists seem fabricated, but there are a handful of reports which still remain unanswered by experts.
A Helena man target shooting on public land near Helena reported being shot at multiple times by another man who "mistook him for Bigfoot."
The man, who identified himself to dispatchers as being 27 and from Helena, was reportedly setting up targets on BLM land in the North Hills when, he says, a bullet hit about 3 feet to his left, and then another bullet hit to his right before he ran to cover and heard more shots.
The Nevada Triangle has become an aircraft graveyard in the last 60 years as hundreds of pilots who venture in never return.A 2010 Channel 4 documentary revealed the astonishing number of crashes as up to 2,000 with many other sites backing up the claim.
The region stretches from Fresno, California up to Reno, Nevada, and all the way out west to Arizona. Inside the triangle are Las Vegas, Yosemite national park, and the top secret US base Area 51 and Death Valley. It takes up an area of almost 25,000 square miles and is half the size of England.
"Took these photos and video today at sunset. It was the oddest thing I've ever seen. Sorry, the video was so shaky. I was zoomed in really far. I watched it for about 20 minutes. It didn't move. I don't think I've ever seen anything in the sky stay that still before, not even for a few seconds, let alone 20 minutes," says the witness who captured the UFO.
The witness also added that the UFO seemed more like a cloud at the first glance. However, when the camera was zoomed in, the witness came to know that the object in the skies had actually a reflecting surface.
"It was just so incredibly still. And from a distance, I originally thought it was a cloud but once I zoomed in with my camera lens I noticed it had a more reflective appearance. As I was driving home I called my husband who suggested maybe it was a weather balloon, but once he saw the photos and video he was also stumped," said the witness.Read More
Li Jianmin, a Chinese author and expert on UFOs, believes he has the skull of an alien life form in is possession. The 55-year-old science fiction writer recently unveiled the find during a seminar in the Chinese capital Beijing. According to local media reports, the brown coloured skull is 16cm in diameter and – unlike human skulls – it has “two different layers” to its formation.
Several airborne sightings of at least one "very bright" unidentified flying object were seen last Friday, according to air traffic control audio logs.
Chatter between airline pilots and Irish air traffic control focused briefly on the sightings, with at least four aviators confirming that they'd seen the phenomenon.
The exchange began when one pilot asked Shannon air traffic control if there was nearby military activity. When the air traffic controller replied in the negative, the pilot said that she had seen something moving "so fast."
The latest image features a creepy, skeletal animal with little hair and a long tail, like a monkey. Its head is hidden by bushes.
State wildlife officials admit it's "freaky" and some at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences took to facetiously calling it a chupacabra, which is a mythical monster dog with vampire-like qualities.
North Carolinians have come to expect rattlesnakes, bears, alligators and possibly even Bigfoot in wooded areas, but state wildlife officials posted images this month of a lesser known oddity that is just as startling: A 2-foot-tall squirrel.
The photos were captured by camera traps in Robeson County, and reaction on Facebook can be summed up by commenter Ruth Bergstein of Greensboro: “He’s huge!”
State officials identified the animal as a fox squirrel that was likely 26 inches tall (not counting its tail) and weighed nearly 3 pounds.
A Nevada witness at North Las Vegas reported watching multiple objects moving overhead at different altitudes, according to testimony in Case 92673 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The event began about 2:11 a.m. on June 11, 2018, when the witness and a girlfriend stepped out onto a porch to smoke.
“Hovering about 500 feet high and one-quarter mile down range,” the witness stated. “No clouds or wind. The object rotated about two or three revolutions per minute. On one axis the object was diamond-shaped with a cross inside the diamond. Both the diamond and cross radiated red, green and white light. On the other axis it appeared as a solid white line. No audial sound.” About a minute later, the witness spotted another identical object at the same altitude but three-to-five miles away. Read More
The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) is investigating an unidentified flying object (UFO) which streaked across the sky on Friday morning and disappeared.
Several commercial aircraft reported seeing at least one bright light with one pilot stating that the UFO was going at an “astronomical” speed of at least Mach 2 (2,500 km/h), which is twice as fast as a commercial jetliner.
SAN ANTONIO -- In 2009, San Antonio dispatchers
couldn’t believe their ears: a 911 call was made from a homeless couple
camping near Hwy 151.
The anonymous couple claimed a Bigfoot was in woods with them.
"That news story that you covered, that's what let the cat out of the bag," said self-proclaimed Bigfoot hunter Rick Dyer.
Dyer said that report prompted him to head to Texas, where he tracked
down the Sasquatch and shot not one—but two--of the beasts near Loop
1604 in northwest Bexar County.
"There's no allegedly about it. I shot and killed the beasts there," Dyer said.
If Dyer’s name sounds familiar to viewers, it’s because he made KENS 5
news for other reasons in 2011, when San Antonio police arrested him
for defrauding folks on eBay, for allegedly selling them Corvettes he
never delivered.
But Dyer’s real fame comes among the Bigfoot hunting community: where
he is known for a Sasquatch hoax in 2008 that gained international
attention.
Dyer said he’s on tour now with his latest “kill,” to restore his reputation.
"It's just impossible to be faked. I don't have the budget to fake it, if it could be done," Dyer said.
Update: It turns out the crop circle wasn’t the work of aliens, but instead – surprise! – it was a publicity stunt by Nvidia Corp., a maker of chips for PCs and smartphones.
The crop circle contained a stylized image of a computer chip and the number “192″ in Braille. On Sunday, the company announced the Tegra K1, its new chip contains 192 computing “cores,” or mini-computers, for graphics applications.
Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang said at a press conference in Las Vegas, ahead of the International Consumer Electronics Show, that he had given his marketing department the mission to promote the chip on a shoe-string budget. The crop circle received wide attention.
Aerial photography and video show an approximately one-acre site with a breathtakingly detailed design.
But the difference between this crop circle and others is that two friends driving alongside the pasture noticed flashes of bright light coming from the site in the early morning hours – before it was ever revealed in daylight.

Members of a Berwick-based group aren't messin' with sasquatch when they venture into the woods at night, but members do hope to run into the elusive, towering hairy creature.
The Pennsylvania Sasquatch Association, which formed in January, hopes to find proof that the sasquatch, better known as Bigfoot, exist.
"We believe they exist," said Bob Bucko, an association member and investigator. "There are more than 400 years of reports and 70 years of photo evidence of finding tracks and castings of tracks."
Pennsylvania ranks 10th in the 50 states for sasquatch sightings - possibly because of its large tracts of unpopulated lands and dense woodlands, he said.
An apparent Bigfoot sighting in Pennsylvania has been labelled a scam after the mythical creature turned out to a huge tree stump. Hiker John Stoneman claimed he spotted not one but two of the seven-foot-tall ape-like beasts three weeks ago through the trees, just yards from a main road in Kinzua State Park near Bradford.
Mysterious lights that appeared in the skies over Arizona and
Missouri July 27 have people buzzing across America, now that videos
have been posted on YouTube.
The lights appear to be floating in formation over Tucson, Ariz., and
Kansas City, Mo., with witnesses indicating they were silent.
“Look over there! There’s another one,” says a man recording video of
the event in Tucson. “What the hell are they? They’re not jets. We
heard jets fly over us all morning. … They’re completely silent.”
A woman on the recording says, “You can’t even see what they are. … It’s freaking us out.”
There were reportedly seven or eight lights in the sky at the same
time over Tucson, with some were moving independently while the others
were flying in tandem. Mystery lights in sky spotted across America
Eerie footage shot in the Canadian
wilderness has set off speculation that the mystery figure filmed in the
distance could be the legendary Bigfoot. The
startling video allegedly shot by a couple hiking in Mission, British
Columbia, shows a large, gangling figure covered in hair, lumbering over
a forest hilltop. As
always with these kinds of sightings, the clip is very blurry, but from
what the viewer can make out the figure emerges from a tree and is
visible for around 20 seconds - before appearing to punch a few leaves
out of the way before disappearing out of sight.
A Bigfoot decomposed foot may have been found by two young in the Massachusetts woods late last month, Daily Mail reports April 22. Tests are being run to check for evidence of the elusive, mythic creature so many believe really exists.
A news report citing the Patriot Ledger read this:
“On March 29, Sgt. Steven Leanues picked up what appears to be a decomposed foot that the boys found in the woods off Pantheon Road. Police Chief Frank Alvilhiera sent it to the medical examiner, who determined it is not human, although it appears to have five toes.”
OCALA, Fla. - Some Marion County residents have reported seeing unidentified flying objects in the skies over Ocala.
The UFO has been described as military-style aircraft, according to residents. Eyewitnesses said the aircraft looked like a bunch of helicopters flying in formation with a large plane.
The mystery aircraft were most recently spotted Monday between 2 a.m. to 3 a.m., witnesses said.
A Navy spokesman said the military does not conduct operations at the bombing range in the Ocala National Forest at that time of the morning. The Air Force base in Tampa said it is not performing drills in the area. Stay with Local 6 for more on this story.
